1964

Steven Tyler formo su primera banda "Seria", The Strangeurs, en Sunapee in cuya banda el era el baterista.Mas tarde Steven cambia el nombre de la banda a Chain Reaction.

1966

- A los 18 años, Steven entra a un estudio de grabacion por primara vez con su banda Chain Reaction. Ellos grabaron dos singles:

"The/Sun / When I Needed You" (Date) and
"You Should Have Been Here Yesterday / Ever Lovin' Man" (Verve)

-Mientras tanto,Joe Perry y Tom Hamilton formaban "Pipe Bream" que en 1969 se transfomaria en la banda de blues "Jam Band".

1967-68

- Marzo - Chain Reaction abrio 4 shows para los Yardbirds.Uno de ellos fue grabado y realizado como el controversial "Live Yardbirds"

- Octubre- Tyler, sigue con Chain Reaction, ayuda a The Left Banke como vocalista de fondo, que tiene un hit con "Walk Away Rene"

- Chain Reaction toca ocacionalmente abriendo concierto para The Byrds,The Beach,Boys y la ultima formacion de Yardbirds con Jimmy Page

- Chain Reaction y the Jam Band tocan juntos en Sunapee "The Barn". Tyler escucha a the Jam Band tocando Fleetwood Mac's "Rattlesnake Shake"

- "They did this song so well that I knew if I could get together with these guys, we could pull the same feeling off with some songs I wrote, so I got together with them...I loved Joe's style. He always played out of tune and real sloppy and I just loved it."

- La parte mas vital de Aerosmith fue sintetizada en esta union. The Jam Band fue unida con Chain Reaction.

1970

- Aerosmith fue muy bien recivido en su primer aparicion publica, tocando en el Nipmuc Regional High School en Mendon,MA.

- La nueva banda llamada Aerosmith toco afuera del Boston University's Student Union, reconoziendo que acercarse a sus admiradores era la clave para triunfar.Compartiendo un departamento en el 1325 de Commonwealth Aveneu in Boston, la banda se auto define en la mejor condicion para una joven banda de RnR :

"There were six of us in the group, some of us were living in the kitchen, eating brown rice and Cambell's soup. Those days, you know, when a quart of beer was heaven. It was hard times and it was really good. During lunch we would set up all our equipment outside of BU, in the main square and just started wailing. That's basically how we got billed. We never got much publicity in the magazines and newspapers."

1971

- El guitarrista Ray Tabano dejo la banda para volver años despues como director de marketing cuando fue creado el primer fan club de Aerosmith y trabajo en su merchandise.

- Tabano es reemplazado por Brad Whitford. - Los años formativos de la banda no tuvieron el elemento mas necesario en una banda de rock exitosa - pura suerte.Ellos estuvieron trabajando muy fuerte y la recompenza estaba en camino.

- John O'Toole deja que Aerosmith practique sin cargo en The Fenway Theater.Comienza a gustarle la banda y los lleva con su amigo Frank Connoly, la primera persona con un poco de significancia comercial. -

- La banda entra al Intermedia Sound studios para grabar Aerosmith su clasico LP debut, producido por Adrian Barber.El album

1973

- January - Su primer album, Aerosmith, es realizado en Columbia Records.

- La banda comienza una gira para promocionar su primer album, abriendo para The Like of Mott the Hoople, The Kinks, Hawkwind and Mahavishnu Orchestra

- Su primer LP se vendio mas rapido que ningun otro album en Boston al mismo tiempo y tuvo una sobresaliente critica desde Creem Magazine, mientras que ni eran mencionador por otros medios.

- Junio - "Dream On" / "Somebody" son realizados como single."Dream On" gana el primer puesto como cancion del año en 2 populares radios de Boston (WVBF Y WBCN).

1974

- Marzo - La banda termina de grabar Get Your Wings en Record Plant en New York y realiza el primer single,- "Same Old Song And Dance" / "Pandora's Box"

- Circus Magazine le da Get Your Wings la primera mencion como uno de los albumes de "Novatos" del año.

- Circus Magazine hace un articulo sobre Aerosmith

- Aerosmith toca ante 80,000 personas en el Detroit Lion's Stadium, Pontiac Michigan

- La tapa del The Boston Phoenix luce ana foto de Steven Tyler en un Top negro con la sig. frase acompañandolo : "Boston's Biggest Export"

- Aerosmith se transforma en una banda encabezadora de conciertos y junto con ZZ Top y KISS, uno de los mas atrayentes conciertos del pais.

- Verano - Aerosmith encabeza con Ted Nugent el "California Jam II" el mas grande festival de Rock de mediados de los 70.

- Aerosmith paga $ 3,650 para sacar de la carcel a 52 admiradores que violaron la ordenanza de No Fumar durante un concierto en Indiana.

- La banda continua en gira durante todo el año.

- Aerosmith culmina su gira con un concierto en el Boston's "Paradaise".

- Las canciones grabadas en vivo en este concierto se encuentran en Live! Bootleg

- Aerosmith comienza a trabajar en su septimo album Night In The Ruts

- Despues de unos problemas internos con la banda, Joe Perry deja Aerosmith para mas tarde formar "The Joe Perry Project"

1982-83

- Augosto - Rock In A Hard Place es realizado en Columbia Records

- La banda sale de gira en el "Rock In A Hard Place Tour" con Jimmy Crespo y Rick Dufay en las guitarras. La gira continua hasta principios de 1984.

- Joe Perry Project gabra Once a Rocker, Always a Rocker para MCA Records.

- Brad Whitford se reune con Joe Perry para tocar en vivo en varios conciertos.

1984

- Febrero - El dia de San Valentine, despues de un largo periodo de buena publicidad entre Perry y Tyler,Whitford y Perry visitan a sus viejos compañeros de banda protagonizando un concierto en el Boston's Orpheum Theater.

- Abril - La publicidad anuncia que la formacion original de Aerosmith se reune y se va de gira. - La banda se junta con A&R man, John Kalodner, que los hace firmar con Geffen. Kalodner sigue junto Aerosmith hasta estos dias.
